Lessons
Private lessons.
Heads up: I come to you.

A private lesson, in your own home

I come to your home, one to one or up to four of you. Every level is welcome, from complete beginners to competition painters who need a final nudge. Teaching is done brush in hand, and with an airbrush if you already own one. I do not teach online for now: doing it properly would take video gear I do not have.

To book a lesson, write to me through the contact form with the length you want, how many of you there are and where you are based, and I will come back with a date and a quote. A 30% deposit holds the slot, the balance is settled on the day, and cancelling is free up to fifteen days before.

  1. I explain it

We start with the theory before anyone picks up a brush: where your light source is, what a glaze does to the colour underneath, when a wash helps and when it just dulls everything you have already put down. Know that much and you stop copying a stroke without knowing what it does.

  2. I show you

I paint the technique in front of you and talk through it as I go: how much paint the brush is carrying, how far it is thinned, the angle and the pressure.

  3. Your turn

You paint the same thing on your own model while I watch and correct you as you go. It takes up most of the session, and it is where you improve the most.

Topics to choose from

  • Acrylic paint: thinning and consistency, glazes, washes, mixing, wet palette.
  • Values and light: where the light comes from, how to place it, and how far to push your values so the model still reads across a table.
  • Contrast and focal points: what to push and what to hold back, so the eye lands where you meant it to.
  • Colour: choosing your colours, how they sit together, and varying the hue inside a single area.
  • Metals: NMM (non-metallic metal) and TMM (true metallic metal).
  • Skin and faces: flesh tones, eyes, and transitions, smooth or sharp depending on the piece.
  • Materials: hair and fur, leather, cloth and drapery, wood, gems and horn: each one has its own tricks.
  • Brush work: layering and edge highlights, glazing, washes, drybrushing, feathering, thinning…
  • Airbrush: zenithal priming, pre-shading, coloured filters.

What is included and what is not

The price covers the lesson. You supply both models, I lend you my paints for the session, and at the end you keep both: the one you painted and the one I painted in front of you. Prices are per person.

Travel is free within Paris. Beyond it I charge expenses for the journey, plus an overnight stay if the distance calls for one; both appear in the quote before the date is fixed.

Clubs and shops that want to host a session for their members are welcome. Tell me what you have in mind and we will work out the format together.

About

My name is Antoine. I have been playing wargames for 25 years and continuously refining my painting for the past 15. Over the years, I have built multiple armies and earned awards in both national and international competitions.

These days that experience goes into commission work. A cohesive force ready for the table, a display piece meant to be looked at closely: I paint each miniature to the standard the project calls for. I take the painting off your hands so you can get on with the playing and the collecting.

Competition record

  • 🥈🥉 Silver and bronze at the AFM Montrouge international competition
  • 🎖️ Honourable mention, Master Fantasy category, World Model Expo Versailles
  • 🥇🥈🥉 Gold, silver and bronze at regional shows
